Happy New Year

December 31st, 2009

Happy New Year!  We had a good evening.  I started prepping for sushi night about 3pm.  We ended up eating about 5 I think.  All turned out great, made different kinds of rolls using scallops, lump crab and shrimp.  Scrumptious as always!  I had way too much Sake and thought it did me in early in the night, but it didn’t, I overcame it and started baking brownies, they should be done soon.   Thought I was down for the count!  Happy I wasn’t.

Wishing a happy new year to you and yours.

Red

December 31st, 2009

Our dog Red is hilarious.  When Dave has been gone and me working at home.  He calls me about 15 minutes before getting here and I call 0ut to the dogs telling them that Daddy is around the corner and after a few times of doing it, Red heads out to the front of the property looking for Daddy.  Well we had just gotten done with dinner and were horsing around with the animals and I started yelling, where’s daddy, where’s daddy and Red started going crazy barking at the front door wanting out.  When Daddy was right in the room, he is silly.

Only 3 days left until billing day!

December 29th, 2009

I love the end of the month, it means I can bill all my clients and get all my money!  One drawback is getting paid every 30 days, but I do have a couple nice ones that don’t mind every 2 weeks, so that makes it nice.  Things are going very well with my bookkeeping business, I couldn’t be happier.  I did better in my first year of business than I ever did working for anyone else.  I am thankful every day and love my life.  I have been trying to talk my sister into doing the same thing as me, looks like I may start training her the first of the year.

Super swamped this week, trying to get as much done as possible before taking a 3-day weekend.

Dave got his first sale on his wood projects on Ebay, very exciting.  His site is up up and going at furstwoodworks.com, but I think I announced that already in an earlier post. =P   He has no work otherwise =(

I paid off two loans today, woohoo

Missing home.

Gonna be another year older soon, I am still deciding whether I want to make sushi myself or go out.  Either way will be good.  If anyone wants to join us, come on down.

R.I.P. P.I.T.A.

Anyone read this that has web design/programming experience?  I need to hire someone immediately to help with a couple projects.  Contact me with your rate and experience please.

wondergirl out, time for bed.

What pisses me off about Facebook…..

December 27th, 2009

Or should I say friends?  I guess it’s not Facebook’s fault.

Why is it that people don’t respond to emails or posts, but are online playing those stupid application games.  Why they even waste their time, I have no idea, are there not better things to be doing?

I have been totally excited to catch up with old friends and most of them have left me hanging.  Kinda feels like I am back in high school again.

Yummy dinner

December 25th, 2009

We had a great dinner.  I made a 13 pound Turkey.  Smothered a stick of butter all over it before baking in the oven for a few hours.  Served it with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and turkey gravy made from homemade stock.  Dave hates yams and sweet potatoes which happen to be my favorite, so I came up with a recipe to give me my craving and he likes it too.  Glazed Carrots.  Recipe down below.  Also served up yeast rolls and homemade stuffing.  No complaints from this meal today! Thankful for the food and the good company.

glazedcarrots

Jenny’s Glazed Carrots Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Bag of Carrots
  • Butter – 4 Tablespoons
  • Olive Oil – 1 Tablespoon
  • Maple Syrup – 2 Tablespoons
  • Brown Sugar – 2 Tablespoons
  • Fresh Parsley, Curly or Italian
  • Salt & Pepper

Peel and cut carrots.  Sauté in a pan on medium high heat with the butter and olive oil.  The olive oil will help the butter not burn.  Put a lid on and sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring every minute or so to make sure all is cooking evenly.  Add the maple syrup and brown sugar, salt and pepper and cook for another couple minutes or until the carrots are at a desired tenderness.  Stir in the parsley just before serving.

Merry Christmas Eve!

December 24th, 2009

or is it?  I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.  Wasn’t ready to get up, but did anyways because the rest of the house was up.  Dogs have been misbehaving this morning, so loud noise constantly it seems between the barking and the yelling, oh and Molly hissing.  She doesn’t like Roscoe yet.

The weather is getting crazy here, wind gusts and rain.  The flight path for Memphis International Airport shifted this morning, every 20 minutes it sounds like a plane is about to crash over our place, which is NOT enjoyable.

I feel a nap coming on soon, maybe I should do it and wake up and it will be a new day.  Get started on my cooking that really should have been started already.  Ok, only 9:30am, not so bad.

Coffee tastes good this morning.

Happy birthday Rich Stowell!

Good day everyone.

Happy Holidays!

December 23rd, 2009

I love the holidays and the extra time off work that comes with it.  I can’t wait to get in the kitchen tomorrow, I may start early.  Doing Thanksgiving dinner all over again with a turkey, stuffing, cranberries, glazed carrots and mashed potatoes and gravy, yeast rolls and not sure if I am making pumpkin pie or apple pie.  Either way, will be tasty.

It’s been raining all day, some crazy storm going on out there, they say we could get some flurries on Xmas morning, but they say that every year and it never happens. =P

Crazy about Brittany Murphy right?  I loved the movie Uptown Girl with her and Dakota and of course Clueless was a favorite.  RIP Luanne Platter!

I am happy to announce the launch of my husband’s new woodworking company.  He is very talented and what fun it has been to be able to try out all the stuff he is making, love it!  It’s like Christmas a couple times a week.  He does good work, check out his site.  http://www.furstwoodworks.com

Back to the grind tomorrow

November 29th, 2009

Long four day weekend, will be happy to get back to the grind tomorrow.  One more billing day left this month!

We had a nice Thanksgiving.  Dinner turned out great, turkey was as tender as could be.  Been eating sandwiches every day since, glad we are out and it’s over.  I didn’t gain much this Holiday, as we have been taking walks and are going to attempt to walk 10 laps a day out on our track.  We will see how long it lasts.
