Life is back on track.. Sunday, August 31, 2008

Filed under: Our Garden, Rants & Raves — jen @ 2:46 pm

thanks to a couple changes in our lives, we are now getting our lives back on track. I am getting more work soon and Dave got a promotion at work. He gets a brand new work truck and all, it’s very exciting. Just what we needed to get the ball rolling again. Dave this weekend is working on building us a front deck.

Yesterday I worked for hours on a debt payoff plan. I love doing this kind of stuff, if anyone out there would like me to help them get their finances in order, let me know. I come cheap, no money up front. heh.

I am not ashamed to say that we are $33,000 in debt. Doesn’t include cars, houses, etc, just credit cards and personal loans. With my new debt pay off plan that is going to begin on Oct 1, we are going to drop an extra $1000 a month towards our debts. Using the snowball effect, we will be debt free by December of next year. So what’s another 16 months of sacrificing and not getting out much, I am so in.

Garden update……until next year folks.

At 133. =)

Looks like we could get some fall out from Gustav, the last evacuation bus left at 3pm today. Scary stuff, I hope everything will be ok. A lot of evacuees came to Memphis. BACK OFF GUSTAV!!

hey hey what up. Summer is officially here, been in the 100’s every day. My poor baby has to work out in it every day. I am indoors constantly with the A/C set just right. =) As soon as it starts getting cooler, I will venture outside and pick up my running again. Whats that you say? Get outside and run before it gets hot? Honey, the heat index was 92 when I woke up at 7:30!! And here, there is no cooling down at dusk, the heat and stickiness just lingers around forever and the bugs are horrendous!!!! I swear there is one horsefly out there that just waits for me to come outside so he can torment me.

Lots of good things in the works, don’t want to spill the details quite yet, but I’ll just say that our businesses we are starting have great prospects and that things are looking up for us! For me, I am finally over my work drama from months back, things are on track and I am very excited at the direction my life has taken. A great big thank you to D.A. for changing my life forever.

Our garden is still somewhat going. Bell Peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, watermelon are all thriving. Our corn went to crap, we haven’t a clue what happened. The one time we tried it, it didn’t have any flavor whatsoever. We think maybe it was feed corn. ick.

What else good is happening…… we keep selling junk we found around our property, the last vehicle went last night, 700 bucks, woohoo!! The place has really cleaned up nicely and good that we are making a little money, because our property must make 1500 bucks a year, or we lose our Greenbelt status. No pressure really.

Cats are good, dogs are good, I love Red, he has stuck around and been a fun and protective addition to our family. Yesterday, a car came onto our property, but quickly realized he was trespassing and drove out. The car was already gone and I looked over in Red’s spot where he sits and he was sleeping and didn’t notice the car, but seconds later, he popped up and went running in the direction of the car, smelling all around and went exactly where the car was. He must be a hunting dog or something. Also when he hears a gunshot, he goes running towards it. Love him.

Friday is almost here, have a good one.

Garden Update Saturday, July 12, 2008

Filed under: Our Garden, Rants & Raves — jen @ 11:05 am

Our garden is pretty much belly up. There are a couple salvageable things, but it’s not looking good. We have what seems to be a rabbit eating all our stuff!! Not one pepper plant I planted has been able to grow, 4 total. Broccoli and green beans never had a chance. Corn we had last night and it wasn’t very good. Tomatoes are acting weird and actually look weird coming in. We have one baby watermelon, not sure how long it will last. Squash, basil, italian parsley and zucchini all good.

Next year we will be better and I am going to do something about those pepper plants!!!

What I’ve Been Up To Friday, June 27, 2008

So the posting has been slow over the last couple weeks. There is a reason for that and it isn’t laziness! I have been studying and taking exams to get my QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification and I passed. I am officially certified. What does that mean? Well I am hoping it will allow me to get more clients. I am trying to get a bookkeeping business off the ground and I have been using Quickbooks for 15 years, thought it only fitting. There are more tests I will study for, the Enterprise Edition and Point of Sale. I need to get back to my other studying for a while thought before getting into that again. I am also studying for my Associates in Accounting.

What else…….garden is alright, weeds have taken over. Dave has been working every day for weeks and I have been focused on other things. Not everything has grown in, but so far, lots of zuchinni, squash, italian parsley and corn should be ready soon. Taking it’s time are the bell peppers, jalapeno, black watermelon, serrano, tabasco and cucumbers. My brocolli plant is history, beets never took, onions I am not sure how to tell. Some of the squash measured 9-1/2″.

Some shout outs…….let’s see who reads here.

Have fun on your vacay Beth!

Sammie, you can’t talk about how much better your garden is then mine without sharing some pictures brat.

Tara, have you popped yet?

Widgie, did you get my email girl?

Sheri, have you eaten your corn yet?

Rene, are you staying at Jared’s yet? hehe

Congrats to my hubby for getting his Home Improvement Contractor’s License. Things are lookin up for us babe.

Up next week…..A review on Paula Deen’s Buffet Restaurant in Tunica, MS.

We Have Radishes! Friday, May 30, 2008

Filed under: Our Garden — jen @ 9:29 am

Dave and I were talking last night and he said, “You should go check out the radishes, they are almost ready to be picked”. I thought he was lying, but goes to show you how often I go out to the garden. Dave is usually the waterer. Sure enough, the radishes were poking their heads out of the dirt. Beautiful aren’t they?

It is so beautiful out in the Country. It’s a little past 6am, birds are chirping, Sun is rising and there is a crisp in the air. Love my life. Didn’t love chasing after the friggin dogs this morning though. I glanced outside and all three just standing right smack dab in the middle of the street. Couldn’t get out there fast enough.

Worked out in the garden a little yesterday and not everything is growing like we had hoped. Coming through real well are the radish’s, corn, parsley, pumpkins, and squash. Disapointing, but will have to replant soon.

I am going to get going, I have a real busy day today. Lots of things on my to-do list today, glad I got up early to get going at it.

Good Sunday to Ya! Sunday, April 27, 2008

Been a busy and productive Sunday thus far, usually I am laying around still. I ran this morning, that makes 5 times this week, woot. The dogs joined me again and made it around a little more than usual, still lazy asses. Dave watched from the house, another lazy ass. ha! kidding babe. I also did the dishes, made breakfast sandwiches for the week, picked up a bit. Can’t believe it’s past noon already. Not sure what the rest of the day will entail. It is raining off and on, so ruining our gardening plans. It is coming along good so far though, check it out…….

Next up…..Dave wants to till it once more. He has lyme, fertilizer and something else I forgot the name to put in the dirt. I am going to work on a Scarecrow and as soon as he rain stops, I will work on my rows and planting.

The more I am here at our new home the more I fall in love. It is so peaceful and nice here. Last night was very romantic, we went for a walk around the property as the sun was setting, it was beautimus and perfect. Well except for the stench of Off! Bug Spray in the air. Bugs are horrible here. Speaking of, check out this moth, it is the biggest moth I have ever seen. Crazy looking thing. It’s called a Luna or Lunar Moth. It’s the size of a small bird. This is outside our front door nightly, loves the porch light.

Couple other pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Closeup of Chewy & Sugar, don’t they look good for their old age? Country life agrees with them. Can you tell from the pic that Sugar doesn’t have any teeth?
