Busy busy

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

We are busy busy people this weekend.  Dave has been out in the yard working on the property.  Now that it’s cold and the snakes are gone, time to get some work done.  He is rebuilding a shed back there and clearing a huge area, kinda like a pen to keeps animals in.  Next year we are getting goats.  You hear that California?  Jenny Evans is getting farm animals.  lmao. Did I mention he was working in the rain?  I was inside (warm and dry) working on Jenny’s Bead Factory bookkeeping crap.  Been behind in it, so got all caught up.  I also filed months worth of paperwork in the filing cabinets.  Wish I had an assistant.

Gonna grub now, last turkey sandwich then the rest goes in the freezer for a soup later.

Hey Beth, where are those recipes? hehe

Tara, Dave had two pieces of pie and I had one.  oh yeah, bucs rule and can’t believe the chiefs actually won a game.  Dywayne is probably crying.

Big workweek ahead, pushing for 40 hours, been a while since that has happened.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today went good, lots of good food, good company.  Back to the grind for one day tomorrow, then off for the weekend.  Happy Thanksgiving!  Wish we were with family this year.

It’s almost time!

To cook and eat that is.  Yummers, spent mass money at the grocery store this morning, spent over $20 bucks on the Turkey alone, big ol 17 pounder.  Picked up everything on my menu and you would think by the look of things around here, I was cooking for 25 people.  Just Dave and I this year, same as last and the year before, lmao.  The plan is to work in the AM tomorrow and then start cooking at Noon.  A few things I want to get done before the day.  Off on Thursday, then resume work on Friday.

Got a raise from one of my clients the other day, a $5.00 an hour raise.  I love my work.  Why I didn’t start any of this sooner is beyond me.  Thank you D.A.

Dave has poison oak AGAIN!!!!!!

Red is at the Vet’s getting his nuts chopped.  Poor guy.  Vet said he has pit bull in him.

Happy Thanksgiving!!  Hope everyone has a wonderful day.  I know I will!

Update just for Tara

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

lol.  Dork.  Yea, I know laggin, been so involved with work and home, I tend to forget!

All is good.  Started a new client this week and signed up another, things are going great.  Today we  got all bundled up and walked our property with the dogs, it was fun, hip is sore tho.  Lots of trees and brush to have to get through.  Leaves everywhere, so pretty out.  Getting ugly though, as everything is dying.  That’s the one thing I have had a hard time getting used to living here, no green all year around.

Thanksgiving next week.  Going traditional this year, turkey, taters, gravy, homemade stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce and good ol green bean casserole.  Thats the plan anyhow.  Just me and Dave this year.  Hope everyone has a good one.

Red gets fixed next week.

what else, what else…..

Watched Scorpion King 2 tonight, lame.  Made of honor last night, it was cute.  Typical romance flick.  Another called In the Valley Of Elah.  A Tommy Lee Jones movie, never bad, but this one a little slow.  Out of Netflix for this weekend.  Tomorrow night going to catch the American Music Awards.

Did I mention it’s cold here?  It’s 27 out right now.  burrrrr.  night.

Jenny’s Giant Stuffed Swiss Burgers

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Always wanted to make stuffed burgers. Never had them before and wasn’t sure how it was done, so I did what I thought might work. Here we go…

Ingredients:

  • Ground Beef, Sirloin, whatever you like
  • 1/2 Cup Onions, Chopped
  • 3-8 Garlic Cloves, chopped fine or pressed
  • 2 Tablespoons Italian Parsley
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper

This recipe is for 2 people, 2 burgers. If you are having tater tots or fries, get the oven preheated.

Heat a pan with a little olive oil. Cut up the onions, garlic and parsley.

Add the onions and garlic to the pan, saute until translucent. Before removing from the pan, stir in the parsley then add salt and pepper to your liking. Put in a bowl and let cool.

Start your BBQ or grill pan then take your ground beef and make four patties, 2 patties per burger. Don’t make them too thick or you will have too giant of a burger. Mine were thin and they still came out humongous.

Lay the four patties out and then take the cooled mixture that we set aside previously and place a tablespoon two patties.

The picture shows the mixture close to the edges, try and keep it away from the edges, one of mine fell apart a little while cooking. Now take the other patties and place them on top of the other half and press the edges together nicely where you form one giant patty.

Season the patties as you like, I just used salt and pepper. Fry or grill on each side, I did a good 10 minutes on each and they still came out rare. Get your fries in the oven.

After they are done cooking, remove and let sit for 10 minutes. I let the cheese melt as it rests.

Because of the stuffing in the middle, I only have lettuce to put on. Not pictured, I also but a little butter on the buns and grilled then til crisp. They came out a little rare, but I like it like that.

Can you say yummers! The burst of garlic and onion when you take a bite is devine!

robots.txt file blocked Google and other from Crawling Site

Friday, November 14th, 2008

For those of you website owners that have made a terrible mistake with your website and accidentally blocked search engines, specifically google from crawling your site.  I am here to tell you that it won’t take months to get it back!!!

My business, Jenny’s Bead Factory went from a 3 ranking down to zero over a span of 1 year.  I mistakenly put a robots.txt file onto the root of the server that BLOCKED ALL SEARCH ENGINES.  How terrifying to realize my stupid error.  Researching it online let to more worry because all information I came across said it could take months and months to recover.  It took exactly 3 weeks to get back to a 2 rank.  YAY!

So if the traffic to your site is stable, don’t worry, your ranking will bounce back in no time!

Happy Friday

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Up bright and early this morning, shoot, it’s 3:30 in cali right now, all my friends and fam are drooling like little babies.  hehe.

Got Dave up and off to work this morning with an egg sandwich.  Had one myself, woke up starving.  Thought about going back to bed, but now having second thoughts.  If I start my clients now, I could be done by 9am and have the rest of the day off.  hhmmm.  Love my job.

We are having people over for the fight on Saturday, gotta make my menu. Happy Friday to you.

Dead Owls….wtf

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Dave just called, he found another dead owl in the road, this is the second one in a week, anyone else think this is super strange?

Super foggy here today after a long day’s rain yesterday.  Loved every second of it.

Logging into the blog to comment

A lot of you have been having problems over the years logging in to comment.  I think I know why.  When you signed up and registered for the first time, you created a username/login name.  That name is case sensitive, so if you sign up with Fred Durst, then you need to login with Fred Durst, not fred durst in lowercase.  You very well however may have signed up with fred durst instead of Fred Durst, either way, it needs to be typed in EXACTLY as you registered it.

If you don’t know how you set it up or need your password reset, click on the lost your password? link, type in your email address and you will receive an email that tells you what your username is, and a link to reset the password if you need it.

Good luck, hope this helps!
